Digital Consulting & Advisory · DM5

Start with 15 questions.End with a digital plan leadership can act on.

DM5 is not a standalone scorecard. It is a connected maturity journey: self-assess first, validate the context with a digital expert, go on-site where the evidence matters, and leave with a clear maturity report and prioritized action blueprint.

The connected DM5 journey

One assessment. Four connected stages.

Each stage uses what the previous stage learned. The scope gets narrower as the evidence gets stronger.

Why the Flow Matters

A self-assessment can start the conversation. It should not finish the diagnosis.

Digital maturity is cross-functional. Leadership, engineering, operations and IT can all be correct about one part of the problem and still miss the root cause together.

01

Self-score bias

Two teams can score the same process differently. The discovery call reconciles what the score actually means in your business.

02

Surface symptoms

"Our ERP is slow" may actually be a product-data, workflow, governance or integration problem. Diagnosis tests the cause.

03

Siloed viewpoints

IT sees applications. Operations sees delays. Engineering sees workarounds. Leadership sees business impact. DM5 connects the views.

04

Generic roadmaps

A maturity score without dependencies can tell you what is weak but still send you into the wrong first project.

05

No path to action

The value of the assessment is the decision it enables: what to do now, what must wait, and what Phase 1 should achieve.

The DM5 Assessment Journey

From a five-minute starting view to an evidence-backed action blueprint.

Every stage has a clear purpose, a clear output, and a reason to exist before the next stage begins.

1

Self-Assessment

DM5 Quick Scan

Complete the short assessment across the five dimensions that decide whether digital improvement will actually pay back.

  • 15 questions
  • Initial 0-100 DM5 score
  • Dimension-level strengths and gaps
  • Starting hypotheses for expert review
OutputInitial maturity view and focus areas
2

45-Min Expert Discovery

Understand the business behind the score

A SolidPro digital expert goes deeper into the context before recommending any further assessment or technology move.

  • Business priorities and pressure
  • Current pain points and delays
  • Current system landscape
  • Past / current digital initiatives
OutputValidated scope and deep-diagnosis plan
3

On-Site Deep Diagnosis

Test the score against the real operation

At your premises, we meet the relevant teams, walk priority processes, review system/data hand-offs, and gather evidence around the highest-value questions.

  • Leadership and team interviews
  • Process and hand-off review
  • System / data landscape validation
  • Root-cause and dependency analysis
OutputEvidence-backed maturity and opportunity map
4

Maturity Report & Blueprint

Turn diagnosis into a decision

We consolidate the evidence into a leadership-ready report that explains where you stand, why the gaps exist and how to sequence the next moves.

  • DM5 score and maturity radar
  • Current-state findings
  • Opportunity heat map
  • Now / Next / Later roadmap
OutputClear maturity report and prioritized action blueprint
The important difference: Stage 3 does not repeat Stage 1. It investigates what Stages 1 and 2 say matters.

That keeps the engagement focused. We go deep where the evidence and business value justify the depth.

What DM5 Measures

DM5 is built on 5 dimensions.

DM5 measures the connection between engineering, operations and digital capability across the five areas that most directly shape execution and performance.

Start with DM5
0-100 DM5 score 5 maturity levels 15 questions Now / Next / Later
1
Configure & Quote

How fast and consistently enquiry becomes an accurate, priced, engineered quote.

2
Connected Systems

How well ERP, PLM, CAD, MES and other systems share trusted information.

3
Product Data Control

How BOMs, revisions, changes and engineering data are governed and kept current.

4
Data & Insight

How quickly operational data becomes decisions leaders can trust.

5
Automation & AI

How much repetitive work is automated and whether the data/process foundation is genuinely ready for AI.

Stage 3 · On-Site Deep Diagnosis

Meet the people. See the process.Test the evidence.

The on-site phase is where the assessment stops being a perception exercise. The exact participants depend on what the discovery call surfaced.

LeadershipEngineering / R&DOperations / ManufacturingIT / DigitalProcess OwnersFinance / Quality
Business priorities

Growth, margin, delivery, customer, compliance and the leadership outcomes the digital agenda must support.

Processes & hand-offs

Where work waits, repeats, gets re-keyed, re-approved, escalated or depends on tribal knowledge.

Systems & data

ERP, PLM, CAD, MES, CRM, spreadsheets, legacy tools and the information moving between them.

Engineering / product data

BOMs, revisions, engineering change, master data, configuration and traceability where relevant.

Reporting & decisions

How leadership gets operational numbers, how current those numbers are and whether functions agree on them.

Automation & AI readiness

Where automation can help now, and whether data/process foundations can support AI use cases responsibly.

Governance & ownership

Who owns systems, data, decisions, KPIs, changes and continuous improvement after go-live.

People & adoption

How current workflows affect the users who must eventually adopt and sustain the future state.

After the Report

The maturity report is a decision point -
not a sales trap.

You can execute the roadmap with SolidPro, with your existing technology partners, or with a blended model. The consulting work should remain useful regardless of who implements it.

1
Business case & ROI

Build the financial case for the selected Phase-1 initiative.

2
Technology / vendor advisory

Define requirements and evaluate platforms only after the decision criteria are clear.

3
Process & operating model

Redesign the target process, ownership, governance and KPIs before digitizing it.

4
Execution / Digital PMO

SolidPro can deliver CPQ, PLM, ESI, data, automation or pods - or govern a multi-partner program.

The Trust Question

"If SolidPro can implement the work, how can the recommendation be independent?"

We separate the decision criteria from implementation. Business outcomes, requirements, dependencies and success measures are agreed first. Platform or vendor choice follows those criteria.

If the right recommendation is to keep an existing system, use another vendor, fix the process first, or delay an AI investment, the report should say so.

SolidPro's advantage is not that every finding becomes a SolidPro project. It is that the people diagnosing the problem understand what engineering execution will actually take.

Why Execution Depth Matters

The advice is stronger when the advisor knows
what implementation really requires.

Questions Leaders Ask

What DM5 is -
and what it is not.

The assessment should earn trust before any large digital program is discussed.

Do we have to do all four stages?expand_less

No. Start with the self-assessment. The 45-minute discovery decides whether a deeper diagnosis is justified. If the issue is already clear and bounded, we should not manufacture a larger consulting exercise.

Who needs to join the on-site diagnosis?expand_more

Only the stakeholders relevant to the issues surfaced in discovery. Depending on the scope, that may include leadership, engineering/R&D, operations/manufacturing, IT/digital, process owners, finance, quality or other domain owners.

Is the on-site diagnosis an audit?expand_more

No. It is a digital maturity and business diagnosis, not a certification or regulatory audit opinion. Evidence is reviewed to validate operating reality and strengthen the recommendations.

Will the report just recommend SolidPro services?expand_more

It should not. The report defines the priority, dependencies, requirements and next decision. Where SolidPro is relevant, we can execute. Where another partner or an existing system is the better answer, the roadmap should remain useful.

What happens if the board wants AI?expand_more

DM5 scores Automation & AI alongside systems, product data, quoting and insight. AI can be Now, Next or Later depending on readiness and value. The objective is the right sequence, not the fashionable sequence.
